The sheriff is elected by the people of the county, representing the citizen's interest, peace, and safety. They have the authority to intercede between any force or pretended authority taken in violation of the liberties and freedoms maintained by the people through our constitutions. They are to keep the peace and security of the civil society they serve. Contrary to the "misinformation" put out there, the sheriff, duly elected by the people, takes the oath of office as a requirement to their office. This is an individual oath. They are to understand and defend the people under the constitution while maintaining the peace and safety of those they serve. The oath is a promise and statement of loyalty that binds them to their responsibility and the people. We must be able to depend on this office as a last stand for liberty.
